The various possible configuration levels for a pressure measurement solution are not defined conceptually in any standard. At WIKA we have chosen the following terminology:

Pressure sensor (pressure transmitter)<\/h2>\n

A pressure sensor<\/a> (also pressure transmitter) delivers a standardised, processed signal within a\u00a0housing with commonly available pressure connection and electrical connection. Typically, it can be coded and ordered as a catalogue product and thus provides the customer with a plug-and-play solution. Nevertheless, customised versions are possible when backed up with a corresponding \u201cbusiness case\u201d.<\/p>\n

Pressure sensor module<\/h2>\n

A pressure sensor module is designed for OEM applications. It delivers a standardised and\u00a0calibrated signal, but can be customised with regard to connections and size. EMC protective measures must be arranged in the customer application.<\/p>\n

Sensor elements and their assemblies<\/h2>\n

Sensor elements and their assemblies deliver an uncalibrated signal in mV\/V and can be designed to suit the customer through corresponding modifications of the pressure connection or addition of a case etc. Here the customer is responsible for the\u00a0calibration and thus for the accuracy achieved. \u2003<\/p>\n

As is shown in the table, specific sensor modules and assemblies with sensor elements require an intensive coordination between the customer and the sensor supplier. In order to find the best possible solution, a joint \u201cvalue innovation workshop\u201d can offer a good solution.<\/p>\n
