WIKA\u2019s measurement technologies help to optimize and control steel-making processes to lower costs and ensure the quality of the final product. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Crude steel production continues to increase, despite a slower global economy. In 2018, more than <a href=\"https:\/\/www.worldsteel.org\/media-centre\/press-releases\/2019\/world-steel-in-figures-2019.html\" rel=\"external\" target=\"_blank\">1.8 billion metric tons<\/a>of crude steel were produced throughout the world, mostly in China (the U.S. is 4th). The main way to stay competitive in this industry is to lower costs through process optimization. Carefully controlled processes also provide reproducible conditions that ensure all batches feature the same characteristics and quality. Measuring temperature, pressure, and other parameters at different points in the process gives operators the control they need.<\/p>\n<p>However, operating conditions in steel manufacturing applications are extremely challenging.
