As part of WIKA USA’s 198 Years of Expertise video series, get to know Hardy Orzikowski and his multi-decade expertise in pressure gauges and mechanical thermometers.
Few people at WIKA USA – or even the corporate office in Germany – have worked with mechanical pressure and temperature instruments as long as Hardy Orzikowski has. He first joined the WIKA family in 1982 as an apprentice, and has since moved up the ranks to senior product manager.
Mechanical pressure gauges and dial thermometers are his areas of specialization. During his 40-plus years in this field, Hardy has advised countless customers on finding the just-right measurement solutions via one-on-one conversations as well as online content. One such occasion involved a toothpaste manufacturer looking for a pressure solution that could withstand the process’s high-pulsation environment. The company’s CEO found Hardy via WIKA USA’s article on “8 Common Reasons For Pressure Gauge Failure,” then contacted him for assistance. Hardy’s solution: a sanitary gauge with integrated diaphragm element, liquid case fill, and internal restrictor.
Besides listening to current and potential customers, Hardy is also a stronger believe in doing market research and discovering what the measurement challenges are in his field. That‘s how the FlexWindow liquid-filled gauge came to be. Rather than having a vent that could allow the case fill to spill in certain situations, this innovative mechanical gauge features a clear flexible disk that compensates for temperature-related overpressure or negative pressure by expanding or contracting.
