WIKA offers a complete selection of load pins, load cells, tension links, and force transducers for paper facilities, as well as portable equipment for the onsite calibration of pressure and temperature instruments.
This article is a continuation of “Pressure Monitoring Solutions for the Pulp and Paper Industry.”
Force Sensing

Shear beam load cells (top) are usually rectangular blocks with two machined recesses, while bending beam load cells (bottom two) are cylindrical with a hole bored through the center.
There are numerous applications throughout a pulp and paper facility where force sensors are useful. Paper forming, pressing, calendaring, and cutting all call for precise force to be exerted on the sheets. Force sensors are also well-suited for measuring the weight of tanks and detecting overload in hoists, cranes, retrieval systems, and other mobile machinery.
WIKA’s load cells are durable, easy-to-retrofit technologies. When mounted on a measuring body, such as the foot of a support platform, the weight of the tank deforms the beam load cell, which converts the elastic deformation proportionally into an electric signal. Our load cells feature thin-film technology and local temperature compensation for high accuracy, excellent reliability, and a long service life.
Instrument Calibration
As a leading instrumental specialist, WIKA also offer complete calibration solutions, both onsite as well as in our state-of-the-art laboratories.

CPG1500 digital pressure gauge
Onsite pressure calibration
The CPG1500 precision digital pressure gauge offers fast and easy onsite calibration of pressure instruments. Its measuring range extends up to 150,000 psi (~10,000 bar), with vacuum and absolute pressure ranges also available. Its logger function stores up to 50 measured values per second and communicates with WIKA-CAL. The CPG1500 has the ease-of-use of a mechanical gauge, but with the exceptional accuracy – as high as 0.025% full scale – of a calibration-grade digital instrument.
The CPH7000 portable process calibrator works by manually generating pressures from 12.3…360 psi (−0.85…25 bar). Its accuracy is also as high as 0.025% FS, and comes with a calibration certificate. For extra convenience, we offer a complete package that includes the CPH7000, a power supply unit, and two connection cables (banana plugs) – all in a durable case. Accessories are also available.
Onsite temperature calibration

CTR3000 precision thermometer
Easily calibrate thermocouples, resistance thermometers, and other thermometers in the field with our selection of portable temperature calibrators. The CTR3000 precision thermometer provides a complete measurement and control interface for both sensor calibration and high-accuracy temperature measurements. In addition to temperature measurement values, the large display also shows configuration settings and statistical results.
For quality assurance and the calibration of thermocouples and RTDs, use the CTM9100 temperature calibrator. It can be used as a dry well or as a micro-calibration bath, generating temperature from −4…302°F (−20…150°C). With additional inserts, this instrument can also calibrate surface temperature sensors and non-contact (infrared) thermometers. Although powerful, the calibrator is roughly the size of a backpack and weighs a little over 26 lbs. (12 kg).

CPH8000 portable multifunction calibrator
Multifunction calibrator
The CPH8000 is a truly versatile portable calibrator that simulates and measures several parameters:
- Gauge pressure and absolute pressure
- Electrical signals: mA, mV, V, Ω
- Temperature – for calibrating thermocouples and RTDs
- Frequency
- Pulse
Its user-friendly features include a large display, color touchscreen, and integrated data logger. An optional HART® module allows the hand-held calibrator to communicate with HART®-enabled instruments.
