WIKA Sensor Technology in the US state of Ohio has inaugurated its new plant in April with an area of around 22,000 square metres, thus creating space for the future. The celebration at the Creekside location in the greater Columbus area was attended by many guests. With the cutting of the symbolic ribbon, Alexander Wiegand, CEO of the WIKA Group, officially dedicated the new home of the subsidiary.
WIKA’s Creekside campus spans 14 acres and represents a total investment of 5 million euros. Partnerships with business support agencies “OneColumbus” and “JobsOhio” also provided substantial support for this project. WIKA Sensor Technology’s increased capacity has already created 22 new jobs, with an additional 23 new jobs expected with the move of a pressure gauge production line from the WIKA USA headquarters in Lawrenceville (Georgia).
WIKA Sensor Technology will focus on force and DirectDrive products
The new plant will focus on engineering and production of the force and DirectDrive product families. In future, this site is to become WIKA’s sensor hub in the USA. Also, this location was certified in accordance with AS9100D. This quality management standard enables WIKA to better serve the aerospace industry.
The Commissioner of Delaware County, to which the location of the subsidiary belongs, paid tribute to WIKA Sensor Technology’s investment in the region. It is a clear indicator of both its flourishing economy and its growth potential. At the same time, this “prestigious manufacturing project” links the region to its German roots because “25.9 percent of the inhabitants of Delaware County have German ancestors”.
Subsidiary also engages socially in the region
WIKA Sensor Technology is also firmly embedded in this region through its social commitment. At the inaugural ceremony, the local organisation “CHA Animal Shelter” received a significant donation. In return, the CHA named the company a “lifetime ambassador”.
